Angling
Fish species found in the canal include Pike, Carp, Tench, Eels, Bream and Perch.
The best spots to fish on site are in the Arm and around the Junction. If your looking for Pike, the best chances are in and around the Winding Hole.
Another good area is towards the railway bridge, but be wary fishing the length between the Plot 192 and 201. This area was until fairly recently, boat moorings and the remains of the pontoons are just below and surface, ready to snag your tackle.
To fish any inland waterway, you will need a rod licence and a permit from the owners of the fishing rights for the water you wish to fish.
The fishing rights on The Lancaster Canal from Bridge 118 to 140 is owned by Bolton le Sands Angling Club. This covers the stretch of canal that passes the site. Annual membership runs from Jan to Dec and can be purchased from Bolton le Sands Post Office. (At the time of writing membership is just £10)
There is no closed season on the canal. You can fish all year round.
