The Winding Hole
A Winding Hole is a turning area on a canal and are the only places other than junctions where long narrowboats can change direction.
This winding hole was to allow the stone boats coming to load up in the arm to turn and face the exit before loading at what are now Moorings.
It's also another good fishing spot where the water is probably the deepest around as is also known as 'Pike Pool'.
